Ecology and Life History
Short General Description
Liverworts yellowish to brownish, often becoming somewhat reddish-brown, the shoot-tips often rose-tinged. Leaves with the undivided bases smooth-margined, the slime papillae, if distinct, not stalked; often with straight or hardly falcate lobes (Schuster 1966).

Global Range
Herbertus aduncus ssp. aduncus is from the North Pacific, from Japan to Alaska and Washington (Schuster 1966). Also is known from Oregon (Christy 1996).
